Houseplants are life.
Lol, that sounds funny, but it’s true.
Oh imagine that, they are alive = life. I think I’m funny. (That’s all that matters right?)
They make me so happy, I thought I would write about them. (And answer my own questions, like whyyyy do houseplants make me so happy?!) I never would have thought that adding plants all over my house could give such an amazing energy boost. Not only that, they also look great, and they add a pop of color too.
Here are some of the reasons why houseplants can actually make us happier.
Decrease stress and improve cognition, health, and well-being
Grinde and Patil, who wrote the research article; Biophilia: Does Visual Contact with Nature Impact on Health and Well-Being?, state that having houseplants can positively influence cognition and emotion, which then positively impact stress-levels, health and well-being.
Say hello to less stress when you’re surrounded by house plants.
Cleaner air and less toxins
Plants are natural air purifiers that release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide while using photosynthesis. Some plants are even known to aid in removal of toxins in the environment.

Give a feeling of fulfillment and purpose
Watching houseplants grown and thrive overtime can give us a sense of purpose while grounding us into nature.
Nurturing your houseplants, showering them with love and care, and then watching them produce little plant babies is so exciting. It just does something for the soul (and can release endorphins) while knowing that you are helping that plant thrive and flourish. Not to mention, while caring for your plants this study has shown that the interactions also helps to reduce stress and anxiety.
Boost in productivity
According to a study done in the UK, people who have plants in their office have a 15% increase in productivity compared to those who don’t.
Lowers the effects of the fight-or-flight response
Plants in general create a more relaxing environment. This study has shown that plants help to reduce overall blood pressure and heart rate, while creating a more serene atmosphere.
Overall, plants are just beautiful. They are good to have around for your health and wellness!
